Terms of service

The rules for adding Astri to a server and using its dashboard. Please read them: they limit what we're responsible for.

Last updated 17 October 2026

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and the person who runs Astri ("we", "us"). By adding Astri to a Discord server, keeping it in one, using its commands, verifying through it or signing in to the dashboard, you agree to them and confirm you've read the privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use Astri, and remove it from any server you manage.

If you add or manage Astri for a server, community or organisation, you confirm you're allowed to make that choice for it, and these terms bind you and, where you act for them, them too.

Who runs Astri

Astri is run by a private individual, known as Noahtarp, based in the Netherlands, as a free, non-commercial project. You can reach us as set out under contact. Astri isn't made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Discord Inc.

Who can use it

  • You must meet Discord's minimum age where you live (13 in most countries) and be allowed to use Discord. If the law where you live needs a parent or guardian to agree before you use services like this (in the Netherlands, under 16), they must agree first, and they accept these terms for you.
  • You mustn't be barred from using Astri, by us or by law, for example by sanctions.
  • You have to follow Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and Developer Policy as well as these terms.

The service

Astri is a Discord bot and dashboard that watch for nukes, raids and spam, and can act on them: timing out, quarantining, kicking or banning members, removing roles, changing channel permissions and restoring server structure. It also offers moderation, verification, backups, account standing and the Astri Network.

  • Astri is free. We don't charge for it and you don't pay with anything other than the data described in the privacy policy.
  • We may add, change, limit or remove features, set usage limits, and pause or stop the service, in part or entirely, at any time. Where we reasonably can, we'll announce big changes in the support server first. If we stop Astri for good, we'll try to give notice so you can make other arrangements.
  • We may do maintenance or emergency fixes without notice, and the service may be unavailable while we do.

Your part

If you add Astri to a server or manage it there:

  • Astri needs Administrator and a role near the top of the list to work. You decide what it may do: each module starts in shadow mode and only acts once you turn on enforce.
  • You're responsible for your server's settings, for who you give staff access or trust to, and for every action Astri takes in your server under them, as if your staff had taken it. Check its calls in shadow mode first, and use undo if it gets one wrong.
  • You're responsible for your server's own moderation decisions and records, including reasons your staff type, and for answering your members' appeals fairly.
  • Tell your members that Astri protects and moderates the server and link to the privacy policy, for example in your rules or welcome channel. For your server's records you're the data controller; see data processing.
  • Keep your own Discord account secure. Anything done with it on the dashboard is treated as done by you.

Account standing

Astri's automatic actions in your server count toward the affected accounts' standing, and you'll be told when someone Astri contained elsewhere joins. This is part of how Astri works in every server. Standing is an automated signal, not a verdict, an accusation or a statement of fact about anyone: check the account yourself before acting on it, don't publish or repeat it outside your staff, and mark false positives so innocent people get their standing back. Anyone can ask for a review of their own standing on the account standing page. We may correct standing at our discretion.

Astri Network

If you link your server to a network, raiders and nukers Astri contains in any server of it are acted on in yours, under your own raid settings, and those contained in yours are acted on in theirs. By joining or running a network you confirm that:

  • you trust the other servers' owners to run Astri fairly, and you accept that actions they cause can be taken in your server;
  • you're responsible for the actions taken in your server through the network, as for any other;
  • if you run a network, you decide which servers get in, and you'll only accept servers you have reason to trust;
  • you won't use a network to target people, settle disputes between servers or spread actions you know to be wrong.

You can stop sharing or leave at any time. We can remove a server from a network or dissolve a network that's misused, without notice. Disputes between servers in a network are between their owners; we're not a party to them.

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • use Astri to harass, target, dox or unfairly punish people, including by setting it up or provoking it to mark someone's standing on purpose, or to spread them through a network;
  • file false reports, appeals or reviews, or pretend to be someone else;
  • try to break, overload, probe, reverse engineer or get round Astri or its limits and checks, or reach data from servers you don't manage;
  • use bots, scripts or scraping against the dashboard or its API, other than Astri's own features;
  • put unlawful, hateful or sexual content involving minors into anything Astri stores, such as reasons, names or appeals;
  • copy, resell, rent out or pass off Astri or its dashboard as your own;
  • use it against Discord's terms or the law.

Found a security problem? Tell us privately at [email protected] and give us a reasonable time to fix it before telling anyone else. Good-faith reports that don't access others' data or harm the service are welcome.

Your content and ours

  • Astri, its code, name, logo, website and documentation belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them as these terms allow, for as long as you're allowed to use Astri. Nothing else is licensed to you.
  • Things you or your staff put into Astri, such as settings, reasons, names and appeals, stay yours. You give us the right to store, process, copy and show them as needed to run Astri for you and as the privacy policy describes, for as long as we keep them. You confirm you're allowed to give us that right.
  • If you send ideas or feedback, we may use them freely without paying or crediting you.

Discord and others

Astri runs on Discord and depends on it. Discord can change, limit or end what bots can do, rate limit Astri, or be unavailable, and we're not responsible for Discord or for its effect on Astri. Your use of Discord, Cloudflare and any other third-party service is governed by their own terms. Links to other sites are for convenience; we don't control them.

No guarantee

Astri is a free tool provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we give no promise or warranty, express or implied, that it will be available, timely, secure, error-free, fit for a particular purpose, or that it will catch any particular attack. In particular:

  • it can miss an attack, act too late, or act on someone innocent;
  • it can be offline, slowed down or limited by Discord when you need it;
  • some things can't be undone, such as a kick, a deleted channel's messages or a member who left, and rollbacks and backups can be incomplete;
  • standing, risk scores and network actions are automated signals that can be wrong.

Astri is one layer of protection. Keep your own backups, give staff powers carefully, and don't rely on Astri alone.

Liability

Because Astri is free and run by one person, our liability is limited as follows, to the extent the law allows:

  • We aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, revenue, members, reputation, community, data, messages, channels or roles, or for loss caused by Discord, other third parties, other servers in a network, your own settings or staff, or events outside our reasonable control.
  • We aren't liable for actions Astri takes in a server under its settings, or for how server staff use what Astri shows them; those are the server's responsibility.
  • In every other case, our total liability for all claims together relating to Astri is limited to €50 (fifty euros).
  • Any claim must be reported to us in writing within a reasonable time, and in any case within one year of when you knew or should have known of it.

None of this limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury, for loss caused by our intent or deliberate recklessness (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid), or any other liability that can't be limited or excluded by law. If you're a consumer, these limits apply only as far as Dutch and EU consumer law permit, and you keep every right that law gives you and that can't be waived.

Indemnity

If you use Astri for a server, community or organisation, or otherwise not as a consumer, you will compensate us for, and protect us against, claims by others (including your members, other servers and authorities) and the reasonable costs of dealing with them, to the extent they come from your server's use of Astri, your settings or staff, your network decisions, your content, or your breach of these terms or the law. If you're a consumer, this applies only where you're at fault and as far as the law allows.

Suspension and ending

  • You can stop at any time, at no cost, by removing Astri from your server and signing out of the dashboard. What happens to the data then is in the privacy policy.
  • We can suspend or end your access, block a server or account, remove Astri from a server, or leave a network, if you break these terms, if we're required to by law or by Discord, to protect people or the service, or if we stop Astri. Where it's practical and safe, we'll tell you why, and you can contact us to object.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive, including no guarantee, liability, indemnity, data processing (until the data is deleted) and law and disputes, keep applying after these terms end.

Data processing

For the records Astri keeps to protect and moderate your server, you (the server's owner) are the controller and we are your processor under article 28 of the GDPR. These terms are our processing agreement:

  • What and why: the data, purposes and periods described in the privacy policy, about your server's members and staff, to protect and moderate your server as you've set it up.
  • Your instructions: we process this data only to provide Astri as these terms and your settings describe, unless the law requires otherwise, in which case we'll tell you unless the law forbids it. Your settings and use of Astri are your instructions.
  • Confidentiality and security: only we have access, and we take the measures described under security in the privacy policy.
  • Sub-processors: you agree that we use our hosting provider and the other services named in the privacy policy. We'll tell you of changes by updating the privacy policy, and you can object by removing Astri.
  • Help: within reason, we'll help you answer your members' rights requests and meet your own GDPR duties, and tell you without undue delay if we find a breach affecting your server's data.
  • Ending: data is deleted 30 days after Astri leaves your server, as the privacy policy says.
  • Checks: we'll give you the information reasonably needed to show we meet these duties. Given the free service, that's through written answers rather than on-site audits.

Account standing, the Astri Network, the website, verification and abuse prevention are ours, and we are the controller for them, as the privacy policy explains.

Law and disputes

  • These terms and any dispute about Astri are governed by Dutch law. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods doesn't apply.
  • Please contact us first: most problems can be fixed quickly. If not, disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, in the district where we live.
  • If you're a consumer living in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of your own country, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.

General

  • These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about Astri.
  • If part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies, and the invalid part is replaced by a valid one as close to its purpose as possible.
  • If we don't enforce something straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We can transfer them to someone who takes over Astri, provided your rights as a consumer aren't reduced, and we'll tell you.
  • We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as outages at Discord or our host.
  • These terms are written in English. If they're translated, the English version applies.
  • For the Digital Services Act, our single point of contact for authorities and users is the contact below, in English or Dutch.

Changes

We may change these terms, for example when Astri changes or the law does. The date at the top shows the latest version. We'll announce material changes in the support server at least 14 days before they apply, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you don't agree, stop using Astri and remove it before the change applies; keeping it after that means you accept the new terms.

Contact

For questions about these terms, notices or complaints, email [email protected] or ask in the support server. To report abuse of Astri or a security problem, email [email protected]. For help using Astri, email [email protected]; for anything else, [email protected].
